Jeppe Hein - Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear (2007)“OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR” shines behind a two-way mirror, merging the text with images of the visitors and the surrounding space. The text references the warning sometimes found on car side-view mirrors, alerting the viewer to the optical illusion of the altered field of view. The oversized scale of the phrase juxtaposed with the two-way mirror dares the viewer to take a closer look at what he or she sees, and to question the implications of the text in the apparent closeness of the reflected objects.
